Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu predicted the imminent fall of the regime in Tehran, stating that the day is approaching when the “valuable Iranian people will reject the rule of tyranny”. “We launched this campaign to ward off any attempt to renew existential threats and we also commit to creating the conditions that allow the brave Iranian people to free themselves from the rule of tyranny,” Netanyahu said this Monday, March 2.
“That day is approaching. And when it comes, Israel and the United States will stand by the Iranian people. (…) It’s up to them”added the Israeli Prime Minister, visiting the site of an Iranian missile attack that killed nine people on Sunday in Bet Shemesh, near Jerusalem. Iranian attacks on Israel have caused at least 10 deaths, while in Iran there are more than 550, according to a count released by the Iranian Red Crescent.
Iranian social media outlets had reported, citing the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, that Netanyahu’s office and other targets had been attacked by the Islamic Republic’s Armed Forces “in selective and surprise attacks with Kheibar missiles”, something Israel denied. “It’s completely false. It’s just propaganda from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard”a spokesperson for Benjamin Netanyahu’s office told the Spanish news agency EFE.
Anti-aircraft alarms sound periodically in Jerusalem, where on Sunday morning night a missile hit a road leaving the city, which until now had not been attacked either in the current conflict with Iran or in the so-called war of the 12 days of June 2025. This morning they sounded again and interceptions were heard, but no projectiles were reported falling, nor were smoke or other signs that could warn of an impact on the city, EFE said.
Israeli defenses repelled most of the Iranian projectiles, although on Sunday Nine people died after a missile hit a synagogue housing a community refuge and neighboring homes in Beit Shemesh, about 30 kilometers from Jerusalem.
