At 12:35 p.m. Tuesday, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 4:00 p.m. until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday for Jefferson and Lewis counties.
The weather service says, “Mixed precipitation including snow and freezing rain is expected. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 2 inches and ice accumulations of one to two-tenths of an inch.”
“Plan on slippery road conditions, especially in the Thousand Islands region and Tug Hill. Hazardous conditions will affect the commute Tuesday night and Wednesday morning,” the weather service explained. “Periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will result in slippery roads and reduced visibility. Slow down and use caution when driving.”
