Talks between Russia, Ukraine and the US end ‘without a breakthrough’ as war rages

Putin’s fighters reportedly wear “invisibility cloaks” to avoid being spotted by Ukraine’s thermal-sensing drones.

This is followed by revelations that Russian commanders are inflicting barbaric torture on their own soldiers accused of desertion and disobeying orders.

Chilling footage shows one rebel fighter stuck to a tree upside down in the bitter cold near Vladimir Putin front line cannon fodder.

Another – also tied to a tree – is forced to eat snow by his superiors.

The frightened and shivering men were wearing only their underwear after removing their winter uniforms.

Their vile commander can be heard barking, “[They] they wanted to leave their positions, not follow orders.”

An enraged officer shoves snow into the rejecter’s mouth and adds, “Eat, you bastard *****.”

One of the recorded men desperately pleads: “It won’t happen again” and “I’m sorry, please”.

However, the commander told him, “You have to work, don’t **** away. Did I tell you where to go?”

The torture method seems to be popular with Putin’s commanders.

It comes as the US plan to guarantee Ukraine’s security is “100 percent” ready to be signed, Volodymyr Zelenskyy says.

The Ukrainian leader said he was waiting for the time and place to sign the US documents, which would be a significant step towards ending Vladimir Putin’s bloody war.

It will then be sent to the US Congress and the Ukrainian Parliament for ratification.

Zelenskyy said: “For us, security guarantees are primarily security guarantees from the United States.”

“The document is 100 percent ready and we are waiting for our partners to confirm the date and place for us to sign it.”

It comes as no immediate breakthrough emerged from weekend trilateral talks between Russian and Ukrainian negotiators with US mediators in Abu Dhabi.

And Moscow launched a ferocious overnight attack immediately after the talks ended, killing at least one person and leaving millions without power.

Targeting central heating and power grids left countless civilians without heating amid the sub-zero freezing temperatures.

Putin launched over 370 attack drones and 21 missiles of various types, Zelenskyy said.

On Friday and Saturday, representatives gathered in Abu Dhabi for peace talks, with US officials suggesting a summit between the two leaders could now be on the agenda after discussions went “better than expected”.

The Kremlin said the talks were held in a “constructive spirit” but that there was still “a lot of work ahead”.

“It would be a mistake to expect any significant results from the initial contacts… But the very fact that these contacts began in a constructive spirit can be viewed positively. However, significant work awaits us,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Russian and Ukrainian negotiators are known to have last met face-to-face last summer in Istanbul for talks that ended only in an agreement to exchange captured soldiers.

The meeting in Abu Dhabi was the first time they met to discuss the Trump administration’s plan.
