International fair of contemporary art ARCOmadrid hot engines for its inauguration on March 4, with a race of 211 art galleries spanning 30 countries and a view to 2045.
This will be the 45th year of the holiday, which combines solidarity and energy towards the “newest, most different”, announced director Maribel López, who organized it for the celebration. ARCO2045: The Future Nowa space “in which to explore the future, what kind of debate”.
The director began the journey to the presentation of the holiday with a statement VAT check for art purchases for three reasons: to ensure the competitiveness of Spanish galleries, because they support their artists, and for “how we understand art as a society”, because art is culture, we have to count on reducing VAT, as other artistic expressions have.
Regarding the fair, of the total number of galleries participating this year,178 parts of the “general program”which López considers “the heart of the feria” and around which initiatives to attract young men and women cluster.
These are the proposals with which the festival maintains the initiative and gives birth to new artists and gallerists who redefine the panorama.
Here in “ARCO 45: The Future Now” there are 17 galleries from 8 different countries with the aim of “reflecting on the possible futures and linguistic experiments of art in order to see new horizons”.
Another of the initiatives aimed at young people is the “Opening”, which will once again bring the opportunity to bring children under 8 years old with innovative proposals to give children the chance to participate in holidays “more cared for and accompanied”.
“Opening” will be presented in 19 galleries in 15 countries including Callirrhöe, El Chico 4710 Gallery, ADA or Enhorabuena Espacio.
As regards “help them grow and stabilize”explained López, who said that this year the section will have two awards: the best gallery and the best artist under 40 years old.
On this occasion, the section “Perfiles/Arte Latinoamericano” continues to focus on artists from Latin America with 11 projects by one artist. 7 different countries including Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Mexico.
Adamas, the fair featured 38 art spacesin “places of secret cases, outside of them it costs“, where the gallery will present the most arrisgadas and smashedoras propuestas.
The director also presented the fair’s paper as a buying incentive, noting that regular institutional buyers this year will include the Matador de Madrid Club and the Catapulta Collectors Association, which will buy art for the National Gallery of Canada to promote the artist.
On the other hand, the ARCO Fund’s traditional dinner will serve to raise funds for the acquisition of works for its collection, housed in the CA2M Museo Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo Community of Madrid.
On the occasion of the dinner, we will celebrate the awarding of the “A” prizes awarded by the ARCO Fund, which in its 30th year honored the collections of Juan Antonio Pérez Simón with the Helga de Alvear Prize; Laurent Dumas with the International Collection Award; Gabriel Calparsor with the National Collection Award and MACBA Studio with the Joven Collection Award.
