In 2025 there were a hundred shark attacks, including one in the Canary Islands, and 12 deaths from bites


A surfer was injured in Fuerteventura, while Australia and the US were the countries where the most bites were reported, according to the annual report of the Florida Museum of Natural History Archive. There were 65 unprovoked attacks – those in which the affected person had not attempted to interact with the animal – and 29 in which there was a prior approach by the victim. Read
