Iúri Leitão becomes omnium European champion

Portuguese cyclist Iúri Leitão was crowned this Wednesday, February 4th, European omnium champion, in the championships taking place in Konya, Turkey, adding his sixth European title on the track and Portugal’s first in an Olympic discipline.

Second at the start of the last omnium event, Leitão was impeccable in the race for points to secure gold, adding a total of 140 points. The Dutch Yanne Dorenbos was second, with 131, with the German Roger Kluge completing the podium, with 126.

Four-times European champion in scratch (2020, 2022, 2024 and 2025) and once in the points race (2025), the 27-year-old native of Viana, joins the European gold in the omnium to the Olympic silver won in this discipline in Paris 2024 and the 2023 world title.
