The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) recalled this Sunday, March 1st, that the Consular Emergency Office (GEC) is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to support Portuguese citizens in the current context of instability in the Middle East region.
In an informative note published on the social network Instagram, the ministry reminds that the GEC must be contacted exclusively in emergency situations, namely in cases of risk to personal safety, serious accidents, imminent danger, sudden disappearances, natural disasters or public order disturbances.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommended that Portuguese people in the Middle East region comply with the recommendations of local authorities, stay at home, and, in case of emergency, contact embassies or consulates.

Israel and the United States began a vast military operation against Iran on Saturday, which has resulted in the deaths of several political and military leaders of the Islamic Republic, in addition to Ali Khamenei.
