AIMA increases fees by 25% starting this month

As of March 1st, the administrative fees of the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) have new values. The increase was around 25% in all procedures. The agency announced the updated values through social media.

It is the first rate increase since the agency was created in October 2023. Immigrants from Brazil and other countries in the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) continue to receive reduced paymentscompared to other citizens. But the 25% increase was still applied.

As renewals of residence permits went from €59.40 to €79.10. I and extension of the work search visa, which was €53.30, now costs €66.60. All increases can be checked here.

The updated table presents a difference in values depending on whether the procedures are carried out in person or digitally. The proposal comes from the creation of AIMA, which aimed to prioritize digital channels for services.

However, this is not an option for the immigrant. Some services are only available in person (such as renewals of documents expired by June 30, 2025)while others are only available online (such as renewals of documents expiring after June 30 last year).

O DN Brazil know that The agency’s objective is to make as many services available digitally as possible. However, this process has occurred in phases. The contact form available on the website is updated periodically, with the addition of new services.

One of the most recent, announced last week, is sending missing documents in processes. The subject type on the portal is “Residence Permit” and the subtype “Sending documents to join ongoing processes only at AIMA”.

It is necessary to indicate the requested data and attach copies of the missing documents. Each file can be up to 10 MB in size, and between three and five files are accepted. An important note is that this procedure is not available for renewal of residence permits.
