a day-by-day epic as “life passes you by”

Of course, there is something epic about four young people with different individual projects eventually creating a dance troupe in Madrid and changing the genre. They are Ana Botía, Marta Mármol, Belén Martí and Marina de Remediosy juntas form Mucha Muchacha since 2019.

On your last project, sing of deeds they have since proposed to appeal to epics of great conquests a dialogue of ancient stories of heroes and our greatest present. Where are we and how do we calculate it? What do the big events of today’s world look like?

“From the epic poems sumerios hasta el Singing My Cid, the epic was created to inspire us in life using our own lives“, they say.

It was at the turn of his previous spectacle, You go to four – a reflection on the clear heritage of Spanish folklore – when the idea of this project arose in one of those rare moments when the four met to have a coffee together and insert a little into the day of their fast lives.

“We have always been very close to trout and Belén we plan to be able to hatch an epic because this species seems to have been forgotten and we are very uncomfortable, but it really has not ceased to be valid,” says Marina de Remedios. Questions such as motherhood, precariousness or love came up. “What do you spend with us as a collective? Throughout the time we live in, everything tends to look for the hero or the individual stars, but not the community.”

“Sometimes after so much encouragement we don’t know where our ‘struggles’ are and what we can find ourselves with.” Marina de Remedios

As I said earlier, he continues, “The idea comes from this generalized feeling that our life passes us by for a long time and we are unable to embody the present and actuator en el. It’s always been that way, but now it’s extremely fast and sometimes, with so much input, we don’t really know where our ‘battles’ are and what we can learn from the place and moment we’re in.”

So they started this “humble rebellion in the theater” which is taking place today at the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea Condeduque with three unique events, on the 26th, 27th and 28th. An initiative that will be directed to the stage, as is usual in their work, also very present. “We are a dance troupe, but from our first short work Volume 1We are always busy with a text, song or conversation. Palabra also appeared here from a different form, because Consider that the voice is a larger element of the body and movement“.

I felt that, that Singing actions follow the text. “But it has more to do with movement. the line between what is habbed and what is bail dissolvesit happens at the same time because we want it to be,” says De Remedios.

Even if they return to the same party Singing My Cid or Odyssey Mucha Muchacha, even as he developed the story, took us through the state and journey through different imaginations with those we could recognize. “For us, being a dance troupe, the story was true, how we learned what is so much from word, story, conversation, and word of mouth, for the body and the movement. How we achieve the feelings or anxieties we have is the necessity of being and staying in touch with each other all the time.”

Let’s start with the phrase “Once upon a time…”the plant picture distinguishes landscapes in what you can rely on in your own story until we give it to you, like now we have a space for the narrative that can be created through dance”.

Without dragons, without the great ones who traveled across turbulent seas or dark and ominous forests, here society transcended the epics of those who survive the simple day to day. “We have to see it with the passage of time. Let’s say that not only in motion, but.” In scenography, it is a place where the viewer can be aware of time, as it manifests itself in the body, in the body and in everything that drives us”.

“How big must our adventure be to complete our epic? Why do we sing the impossible songs of the people? Why don’t we feel special when everything seems so popular?” word he worked on the music together with Rubén Alonso (Antropoloops).

“He’s working with free archive music from the back. It’s very limiting in some ways, but it’s also opened up very interesting avenues. The idea of how we wanted to build this music was to break down the concept of a sound band. Ultimately It is a 60-minute piece of music that is the complete number of existing fragmentsstarting with the one you came up with. It’s incredible, total craftsmanship, and Rubén has done a great job.”

With this special musical design in the background and with this spirit of wanting to tell the story of fire, Mucha Muchacha tests its mind on this particular scenic journey.
