City and county leaders join the FOCUS forum for a conversation about civic engagement


Civic engagement remains critical to the strength and vitality of Central New York, and January’s FOCUS Forum brings together leaders from the City of Syracuse and Onondaga County to share insights on community priorities and meaningful opportunities for residents to engage and engage in 2026.

FOCUS Greater Syracuse, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization committed to community engagement, will host its upcoming FOCUS Forum on Friday, January 16th from noon to 1:00 p.m. In-person and zoom opportunities are available. January’s FOCUS Forum brings together community members with city and county officials to explore civic engagement and local priorities for 2026. It will feature Sharon F. Owens, Mayor of Syracuse; and Nicole Watts, Speaker of the Onondaga County Legislature, the forum highlights opportunities for civic engagement promoted by these leaders and encourages residents to discover ways to contribute to initiatives that have a meaningful impact on CNY.

During the free registration, attendees will have the opportunity to submit their questions to the panelists in advance, allowing the panelists to thoughtfully incorporate the community’s questions and perspectives into their opening remarks. Questions can also be used during a moderated Q&A session following the presentation.

The forum is part of the monthly free FOCUS Forum, where experts discuss citizen-focused topics and engage with participants through a moderated Q&A session. The forums are open to the public and last one hour.
