The government closed the Portugal 2020 program (PT 2020), with more than 100% execution and, consequently, without returning resources to Brussels, the Ministry of Economy announced this Monday, 23rd.
“The Portuguese government successfully closed the Portugal 2020 community funds program, within the established deadline, and with the full execution of the financial envelope”, indicated the ministry supervised by Castro Almeida.
In total, Portugal received around 23,500 million euros, through the various PT 2020 programs.
According to data communicated by the executive, execution reached 24,300 million euros, which corresponds to a rate of 103%.
On February 16, the closing documents for the program were submitted, which was exceptionally extended due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Quoted in the same document, the Secretary of State for Regional Planning and Development, Hélder Reis, argued that the good execution of the program contributed to strengthening investment and the competitiveness of the economy, improving people’s living conditions and Territorial cohesion.
The Minister of Economy and Territorial Cohesion, Castro Almeida, stated that the focus is now “totally turned” to the closure of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) and the implementation of PT 2030.
“Success is not only measured by the execution of all the funds, but by the good use of these funds”, he highlighted.
