GNR soldier seriously injured after roof fall in Leiria

A soldier from the Republican National Guard (GNR) was seriously injured when he fell, this Monday, February 23, from a roof he was repairing at the Leiria Territorial Command barracks, sources from this security force and Civil Protection told Lusa news agency.

“The soldier is part of the maintenance team and was carrying out roof repair work at the Leiria Territorial Command barracks, roofs that were damaged following the Kristin depression,” said a GNR source.

According to the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of the Leiria Region, the alert for the accident reached the authorities at 11:54, with resources from the National Institute of Medical Emergency and Volunteer Firefighters of Maceira rushing to the scene.

The victim, a 43-year-old soldier, was taken to Santo André Hospital, in Leiria.
