Netanyahu calls for dismantling Iran’s uranium enrichment capacity

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahucalled to dismantle the capacity of Iran uranium enrichment in a speech in Jerusalem. This before this week’s negotiations between USA and Tehran about the nuclear program.

In his statements, Netanyahu affirmed that any agreement between the United States and Iran must include several conditions and that the first is that “all enriched material must leave Iran.”

While the second is that the country must not retain any enrichment capacity, which implies “dismantling the equipment and the infrastructure that allows uranium enrichment“.

Netanyahu reiterated that it must be resolved the issue of ballistic missiles.

“There have to be real inspections, substantive inspections, without advance notice periods, but rather effective inspections for all of the above“he stated.

Nuclear program in Tehran

The United States and Iran resumed talks on the nuclear program on February 6, in Muscat, the capital of Omanmonths after a previous attempt at dialogue was thwarted when Israel launched an unprecedented war against the Islamic republic in June last year. The conflict lasted for 12 days and the United States participated in the bombings.

The first cycle of talks in February was marked by US threats to Tehran with military action, which included the deployment of aircraft carriers to the region, first in response to the bloody crackdown on the protest movement in January and then to pressure them to reach an agreement.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abás Araqhchi, traveled to Switzerland this Sunday for a second cycle of talks on the Iranian nuclear program with the United States.
