Nissan reduces production by 1,200 cars per month due to the crisis in the Middle East

Nissan will reduce its production at the Kyushu factory in Japan by 1,200 cars per month, due to excess ‘stock’ resulting from the drop in exports to the Middle East region.

The company is “making the necessary adjustments” in production and logistics to adapt to the consequences of the war in the Middle East, which is affecting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the main transit channels for goods and oil in the world.

At the moment, several companies are waiting to make decisions related to the conflict, hoping to find out how long the war could last and what its commercial consequences will be.

Nissan thus joins other Japanese brands, such as Toyota, which chose, at the beginning of March, to reduce its production by 40,000 units between March and April for models manufactured for the Middle East.

The United States and Israel launched a military attack against Iran on February 28, to “eliminate imminent threats from the Iranian regime”, and Tehran responded with missiles and drones against US bases in the region and Israeli targets.
