Multiple deaths reported in attack on rehabilitation center in Kabul, Afghanistan

The government of Afghanistan accused Pakistan of having killed ‘many civilians’ in an attack on a rehabilitation center in Kabul.

The AFP reported that one of its journalists heard several explosions in the center of the Afghan capital just after the passage of military planes, this Monday, March 16

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, Sharafat Zamandeclared to the agency that “There are more than 200 fatalities and more than 200 injured“.

Pakistan accused of attack in Kabul

Pakistan attacked an addiction treatment center in Kabul, “killing and injuring many civilians, mostly drug addicts undergoing treatment,” government spokesman told X Zabihullah Mujahid.

“We condemn this crime and describe it as an inhuman act that violates all principles,” he added.

Pakistani authorities claimed, for their part, that they had carried out attacks against “military installations and infrastructure supporting terrorism” in Kabul, but denied that they had hit a drug rehabilitation center.

According to the Pakistani Ministry of Information, the army attacked targets in the Afghan capital and the eastern border province of Nangarhar.

“Pakistan hits its targets with precision and ensures that there is no collateral damage,” he added.

The two countries have been in conflict for months. Pakistan claims its neighbor harbors militants Pakistani Taliban movement (TTP) who have claimed responsibility for deadly attacks on their territory. The Afghan authorities deny this.

After an escalation in October that left dozens dead, the fighting had calmed down but resumed with intensity on February 26 after a wave of Pakistani attacks.
