This project aims to ensure the monitoring of pregnant women without a family doctor in ULS with low General and Family Medicine coverage.
In the order published this Monday, DE-SUS also determines the creation of a Monitoring Committee, composed of a member of this structure, who presides, one from each of the ULS that are part of the project, the National Commission for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s Health, two members appointed by the Medical Association and two by the Order of Nurses.
Francisco Lucas Maria de Matos, member of the DE-SUS management board, is the representative of this structure on the monitoring committee.
This project aims to strengthen accessibility and equity in access to low-risk pregnancy surveillance, promote continuity of care during pregnancy and the postpartum period and ensure the provision of safe, quality healthcare based on current clinical guidelines, promoting family health teamwork.
It provides that women who plan to become pregnant have access to a pre-conception consultation within a maximum period of 90 days after their request.
If it is impossible to ensure timely consultation with a General and Family Medicine Doctor, the consultation must be carried out by a Nurse Specialist in Maternal Health and Obstetric Nursing.
It also provides that pregnant women have access to the first pregnancy surveillance consultation up to nine weeks and six days of pregnancy.
When it is impossible to ensure this within this period, the consultation must be carried out by an EEESM, who is responsible for the initial assessment of the risk of pregnancy.
