Prometheus dances in the Matadero with classical Greece as it is today

Prometheus I went to the Centro Danza Matadero de la mano de OtraDanza with the suggestion that check out gray myth and talk about us. And yes, he is one of their active mayors. Helena does not appear as a cultural ornament or as a cult pretext for dressing the stage. It looks the way it originally looks, the way it looks, and the way it looks.

The story of Prometheus – learning, power, disobedience, punishment – continues to touch a very real nerve. Just look at the red to understand.

Stamps of Asun Noales brave apuesta. Together with Luis Crespo, Kike Guerrero and Amadeo Vañan, he presents a work that rethinks myth and classical imagination with a fully contemporary sensibility.

There is one in the show a clear dialogue with ancient sculpturewith these taut bodies, modeled, held in the moment, that seem to contain the whole story. The reference refers to Isadora Duncan’s anguish as she turned her eyes to Greece to free her body from other rigidities. Here this inspiration is not quoted: it is embodied.

The scene is built from movement, but also from image. Bodies must be shaped by the light, the music, the inner breathing of each image. Everyone is looking for a common form. The same intensity is not always high, but the impulse is there and therefore from the beginning. Prometheus I want to count something more than just a myth. I want to think about the present through it.

OtraDanza supports it you are very important artists among us. This difference is not a detail: it forms part of the heart of the work. It should be noted that the history, training and physical skills of each dancer supported the construction of the show.

There are echoes of urban dance, some notes of classical ballet and above all a shared energy that gives unity to the whole. The result is good. Also search. The public enters the design easily because they have a real desire to communicate.

Asun Noales knows how to look at the body as an expressive material. No, it makes him illustrate the speech; I have to think about it. Therefore, the work moves when it enters the flow of movement and when it allows the images to breathe. In these moments, Prometheus set to a better tone. The music accompanies well and lighting can do much more than decorate: it organizes perception, dampens tension and opens up areas of mystery.

The work works, además, por su honoridad. It does not pretend to be elaborate with great subtleties. His ambition is to build a recognisable, solid universe with personality. That’s a lot for you. At a time when completeness is often confused with perfection, one appreciates a design that starts from a clear idea and works on it with conviction.

I say this, there is something that could be used to improve the rod. At some points there was more evidence on the scene to identify people. The viewer perceives strengths, relationships, tensions, however I would appreciate a more precise definition of some of the numbers better follow the inner thread of the story.

It is not about transforming the myth literally, but about providing additional expressive words within the framework of the scenic language that the work proposes. These are adjustments that are usually given by the duration of the function.

However, the balance is clearly favorable. Prometheus It’s an enjoyable, intense and well-sustained spectacle for a company that believes in what it does. Yes, if you notice. I have a passion, a job and a clear will to strive for a bridge between classics and reality without falling into celebratory events.

It is also advisable to present the Centro Danza Matadero paper. The work is excellent make small companies and big passions visibleprojects that are not associated with the sound of large buildings, but with an aesthetic truth that requires space, attention and the public. That these voices fit so well is no small detail. It’s a cultural necessity.

WITH PrometheusOtraDanza confirms this myths remain alive when someone knows how to give it to their body. And in this case, Asun Noales and his team did a great job.
