Ivanovic puts on the role of hero and saves Benfica from another draw in the I Liga (see the goals)

A goal from Ivanovic in the final moments gave Benfica a 2-1 victory in Arouca, in the 26th round of the I League.

The Red and Blacks were on the verge of conceding their ninth draw in the championship and, in practice, jeopardizing their chances of still achieving, at least, second place which gives them access to the Champions League, but in the 90’+6 minute the Croatian striker shot into goalkeeper Ignacio De Arruabarrena’s goal and gave the three points to José Mourinho’s team, which thus equals Sporting in second place, although the Lions have a game in hand, already who postponed their game with Tondela.

Arouca took the lead after just seven minutes when Antonio Silva touched the ball with his arm inside the penalty area. Alerted by VAR, referee José Bessa ordered a penalty, which Spaniard Iván Barbero took advantage of to open the scoring.

José Mourinho’s team had a very poor first half and only managed to equalize in the second half with Richard Ríos heading in a corner from Schjelderup.

Until the end, Benfica tried everything to reach the triumph, which ended up coming after a cross from Prestianni, which Ivanovic deflected into the goal.

Even before the final whistle, Amar Dedic and Alfonso Trezza got involved in an altercation and ended up being sent off.
