Jacob Kiplimo breaks world record in Lisbon Half Marathon

Kenyans Nicholas Kipkorir (58.08) and Gilbert Kiprotich (58.59) were second and third, respectively, completing the men’s podium, while the best Portuguese athlete was Samuel Barata, 12th, after 01:00.36 hours.

Tsigie Gebreselama, who had broken the route record in the previous edition, in 01:04.21 hours, returned to the Portuguese capital and won again, despite having completed the 21.0975 kilometers in 01:04.48, without breaking that record again.

The women’s podium was made up of Kenyans Janeth Chepngetich (01:06.50) and Regina Wambui (01:07.10), respectively, while Mariana Machado, making her debut in the distance, was ninth and the best Portuguese, with 01:10.10.

The elite started from Cruz Quebrada, while the Lisbon Half Marathon and the popular 10 kilometer race started at Ponte 25 de Abril, in Almada, in an event organized by the Maratona Clube de Portugal with more than 30 thousand participants.
