Consensus has been reached on Iran’s new supreme leader

On the new day of conflict, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), an alliance of the six richest states on the Arabian Peninsula, condemned this Sunday, March 8, the Iranian attacks against Kuwait and Bahrain, as part of the war started by the United States and Israel.

The organization’s secretary general, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, condemned, in a statement, “the harmful Iranian attacks on infrastructure” in Kuwait and Bahrain, adding that they reflect the “escalation of violence” followed by Tehran to “destabilize security and stability in the region”.

Made up of Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar and Bahrain, in addition to Saudi Arabia, the CCG also stated that attacks against “vital installations and civilian infrastructure” are a violation of international norms.

The Kuwaiti Armed Forces reported that today a wave of drones entered the country’s airspace and attacked critical infrastructure, such as Kuwait International Airport.

The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information stated on the social network X that firefighters were working to control fires at the airport and at the headquarters of the Public Social Security Institution.

Furthermore, the Ministry of the Interior indicated in a statement that two soldiers died “while carrying out their national duty within the scope of security tasks”, although it did not provide details about what happened or mention Iran.

Bahrain, in turn, reported Iranian attacks near a US military base. “Iranian aggression targets a facility near Mina Salman”, a port that houses a US military base, Bahrain’s Ministry of the Interior also said on the X social network.

“Civil Defense is taking measures to control the fire,” authorities added.

The Tasnim agency, linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported the launch of a new wave of attacks against Israel and US assets in the Middle East.

The US base located in Arifjan, Kuwait, was hit by precision missiles, the media outlet added.
