Why is it so important for our economy and society to have a project like CEIIA? When projects are born, they have a purpose that must be perceived by everyone and be the basis for development. When CEIIA was created in 1998 – in a logic of public and private partnership focused on a concept of excellence for the automotive sector – the prospects for its development mobilized companies and centers of competence towards a collaborative path centered on innovation and value creation that today is unequivocally an example and reference at national and international level.
For some time now, CEIIA has been the engine of a strategic cluster focused on the area of mobility, aeronautics and space, which in recent years has allowed the development, based on innovation and creativity, of skills, talents and new opportunities. The dynamism of value creation and reinforcement of technological innovation has gained a lot from the networking, with a strong global presence, of CEIIA. Therefore, in times of crisis and investment in a new paradigm for the future, CEIIA must constitute the true center of a strategic convergence between the State, Companies and Universities / Innovation Centers – CEIIA must increasingly be an intelligent platform aggregating intelligence and competence.
Investment in innovation plays a unique role in leveraging change. Portugal clearly needs to be able to successfully reinforce its presence on this agenda, associated with attracting companies and R&D centers identified with the most dynamic sectors of the economy – Digital and AI, Energy, Automotive and Aeronautics, among others. CEIIA has been able to play its role in these areas, through a distinct approach, led by active networks operating in global markets involving the main sectoral protagonists, in a strategic partnership logic with international scale capacity – New Space Alliances, which has just presented the Portugal in Space study, is a good example of this commitment.
Therefore, it is important that the actors involved in this value construction process understand the scope of these strategic bets. It is impossible to mobilize the country towards a new development paradigm, centered on greater social equity and territorial cohesion, without sharing strategic solutions of collaborative commitment. The CEIIA example goes through this. For realizing that investing in strategic projects of value to our economy is a long path that requires persistence of work and collaborative trust. The global war for value and talent is here and anyone who is not on the front line will have no chance of survival. CEIIA is at the forefront, as demonstrated by the many projects it has promoted in recent years.
We need to understand this CEIIA Example, with all the consequences from the point of view of impact on its economic and social matrix. If there is no true sense of strategic collective responsibility around the new development paradigm for the future, everything will be questioned. It will be, above all, the beginning of an end that we never thought we could achieve and that is a challenge for everyone who has a sense of the future for our economy. That is why it is increasingly important that we have a CEIIA – and other examples of the kind – among us.
