NATO assesses impact of US-Israel attacks on Iran on member security

NATO is closely monitoring developments in Iran and the region, following the joint attack by the United States and Israel and Iranian retaliation, said this Saturday, the 28th, the spokeswoman for the Atlantic Alliance.

According to Allison Hart, the Alliance is evaluating developments in the situation to anticipate possible impacts on security in the region and, eventually, on the organization’s member countries.

According to the spokesperson, the objective is to assess possible “consequences for regional stability and for peace and collective defense missions”.

Despite ongoing monitoring, there has been no announcement regarding the activation of immediate measures by NATO.

This Saturday, the 28th, morning, the United States and Israel began a joint attack on Iran, which reached the capital, Tehran.

US President Donald Trump announced that the United States has begun “major combat operations in Iran” and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the attack aims to “eliminate an existential threat posed” by the Iranian regime.

Tehran responded with missiles and drones against US bases in the region and neighboring countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar.
