Figure of the Day. Black people are not monkeys

Green is not just any man. He is an unlikely hero. Democratic congressman in his 11th term. Texan and son of a mother who worked her whole life cleaning white people’s houses, packing and cleaning the diapers of white people’s children and enduring a whole life without her bosses even asking her how her eldest was doing, who even seemed like a little black guy who was smarter than the others. And the son of a father who was a mechanic’s assistant, who, because he was dark, could never be more than that.

Al Green’s father and mother were almost convinced they were monkeys.

In the black neighborhood where they lived, in Louisiana, in the childhood of the boy who would one day achieve the honor of having a doctorate in laws… even though he was unable to graduate… men and women were condemned to be whatever the masters wanted, whatever they pleased.

Therefore, what happened was not sufficiently valued. Because the world is crazy with evil and amoral people, but there is always someone who forces us not to give up without a fight.
