After a warm shower in the frigid Kabul winter, Alireza Ahmadi combed her hair, tucked her white T-shirt into her black pants and returned to the court.
Alireza, 17, is a phenomenon in Afghanistan, where he plays indoor soccer, or futsal, a faster variant of soccer played with five players per side. Word had spread that he was participating in a local tournament on a recent afternoon, and fans, cell phones raised, rushed to take selfies with him as he emerged from the locker room.
