VENEZUELA.- The opposition party Vente Venezuela (VV) denounced that the government of Venezuela would be confiscating the home of Laura Acostapersonal assistant Maria Corina Machadoin what he described as an act of political retaliation.
According to the movement, the action is part of a series of alleged pressures against people close to the opposition leadership.
According to the statement released by VV, the residence was previously “secured.”
However, on Friday, February 20, the notice posted on the door was removed by unidentified officials.
Subsequently, on February 25, they began to remove furniture and belongings from the property to bring in new ones, which, according to neighbors, would show the occupation of the place by supposed new “owners”.
Removal and occupation of the property
Vente Venezuela explained that neighbors in the area, alarmed by the movement, questioned the people entering and leaving the house, who claimed to be the new owners.
Furthermore, the party maintained that since March 2025 Unidentified officials repeatedly came to the house and even stayed there overnight.
The organization also recalled that on March 24, 2025, a van without license plates, with seven officials on board, forced the entrance of the home and subdued the person in charge of taking care of the property, who was accompanied by a minor. According to the complaint, both were detained and interrogated for eight hours.
History of threats
Likewise, the political movement assured that Laura Acosta was the victim of threats and acts of intimidation since 2024, allegedly by security forces.
Therefore, he added that in September of that same year he left Venezuela after receiving an arrest warrant against him.

In this context, Vente Venezuela argued that the home remained under official security and that, despite this, the officials forced the person authorized by Acosta to vacate the property.
Indications of political persecution
The party maintained that these facts would confirm a pattern of actions against people linked to María Corina Machado.
In fact, he mentioned that days before a similar situation occurred in the home of the leader Magalli Meda.
In addition, the organization highlighted that Laura Acosta and her husband are elderly people and have American and Spanish citizenship.
Call for diplomatic protection
Finally, Vente Venezuela requested the intervention of the authorities of the United States and Spain.

According to VV, this measure would be necessary given what described as a political aggression and a violation of private property.
