Melania Trump to chair UN Security Council meeting

Melania Trump will chair a meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday, a first for an American first lady, her office announced.

“First Lady Melania Trump will make UN history by taking the lead as the United States assumes the presidency of the Security Council to underscore the importance of education in fostering tolerance and peace in the world,” the statement said.

The meeting, on education, technology and peace, scheduled for Monday at 3 p.m. local time, will mark “the first time that a sitting First Lady has chaired a meeting of the Security Council,” he added.

“No one cares more about protecting American youth than our fantastic First Lady, who is now a movie star,” President Donald Trump said Tuesday during his State of the Union address, referring to the Amazon-MGM documentary “Melania,” released in theaters in late January.

The film narrates the twenty days of the first lady prior to her husband’s inauguration in 2025.
