The elected President of the Republic, Antonio José Seguro, made public this Wednesday that he has ceased all academic, business and civic functions he held, having donated the shares he held in two companies to his children.
According to a note sent to the Lusa agency, “due to his election as President of the Republic”, António José Seguro “ceased all academic, business and civic functions he performed”, including the positions of guest associate professor at ISCSP, at the University of Lisbon, and at the Universidade Autónoma de Lisboa.
The elected President also ceased to perform the functions of “manager of the company AMARCOR, LDA”, “manager of the company MIMOS DA BEIRA, LDA”, “vice-president of the NOSSA EUROPA Association” and “president of the MOVIMENTO UPORTUGAL Association”.
“He further informs that he donated the shareholdings he held in the companies AMARCOR, LDA and MIMOS DA BEIRA, LDA to his two sons; and that the company AMARCOR transferred the shareholding he held in the company N&A, LDA to a third party”, says the same note.
António José Seguro, former general secretary of the PS, was elected president of the Republic in the second round of the presidential elections, on February 8, in which he obtained around 67% of the votes cast, against André Ventura, president of Chega.
The new President of the Republic will take office before the Assembly of the Republic on March 9, replacing Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa as head of the State.
