The Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, was admitted this Wednesday, February 25th, to the Hospital de Santa Maria, in Lisbon, where he is under observation.
According to what DN found, the head of the Finance department was admitted to the hospital early in the morning with complaints of feeling unwell, and the initial suspicion of stroke was ruled out.
A hospital source said that at 12:45 pm the 47-year-old minister was still in hospital and that the illness was not due to a neurological situation.
The Santa Maria Local Health Unit “confirms that the Minister of State and Finance, Joaquim Miranda Sarmento, was admitted to the Central Emergency Room of Santa Maria Hospital this Wednesday morning, following an illness”.
In a note, Santa Maria adds that Miranda Sarmento “carried out tests that ruled out the scenario of a stroke [AVC]remaining under observation as a precaution.”
