Hundreds of Ukrainians remembered in Lisbon that the war continues

Hundreds of Ukrainians gather this Sunday, February 22, in Lisbon to remind the world that the war in Ukraine continues and to ask for protection for the thousands of children who are deprived of fundamental rights such as the right to life, family and cultural identity.

With the motto “Let us protect future generations”, the initiative began with a rally in Rossio, in Lisbon, followed by a march to Praça do Município, in an action that took place in 80 countries, in a total of 665 cities, which welcomed Ukrainians who fled the war.

Between Ukrainian flags, which painted the parade, and the concentration of blue and yellow, the protesters shouted ‘Slava Ukraini!’ (“Glory to Ukraine!) and held up flags and signs that read: “Thank you Portugal”, “By saving Ukraine we save the world”, “Stop Russia’s genocide in Ukraine”, “The only path to peace – victory for Ukraine” and “Russia is a terrorist state”.

“We are here to remind the world that the war continues, that all these attempts to resolve this war and force Putin into a ceasefire have not yielded results. We must continue to draw the attention of the world and world politicians to continue helping Ukraine. To do more strength and to try to stop the war”, Pavlo Sadokha, president of the Association of Ukrainians in Portugal, which promoted the initiative, told Lusa.
