40 years ago in Coimbra, the person responsible pointed out that floods in Mondego “are recurrent”, but none of the companies were prepared.
“We are in contact with the CCDR [Comissão de Coordenação e Desenvolvimento Regional]filling out the declaration, but we are waiting for additional measures to come out to those already announced regarding Storm Kristin”he added.
Albano Moreira da Silva said he feared that the measures already announced would not be enough.
“With the support available, namely Banco do Fomento, it gives us financing with good conditions, but the company is going into debt to spend money in a situation where it will have to clean up a lot, it will have to reactivate everything and it won’t be able to sell right away. It’s not at all favorable for the company to be going into debt to fix something catastrophic”he maintained.
The company integrated the six employees of the exploration, which can take time to open.
“In 2025 it will be very difficult. It will be impractical for that sector to get back on its feet”he estimated.
Representing the sixth generation of the family in the company, Albano Moreira da Silva assured that they are determined to maintain the exploration.
“We had a goal, which we will have to restructure, but we remain motivated”.
