415 Fans Banned from Entering Stadiums in 2025 for Violence in Sports

Four hundred and fifteen fans were prevented from accessing sports venues in 2025 by decision of the Authority for the Prevention and Combat of Violence in Sports (APCVD), according to the sanctioning activity report for the period between January 1st and December 31st.

Not total 458 interdiction measures were issued, of which 415 actually came into force during the year. Among these, 238 corresponded to additional sanctions and 177 to precautionary measures.

The introduction or use of pyrotechnics was the main reason for bans, accounting for around 72.5% of cases. The fines applied to sanctioned fans reached R$141,100 and the average ban time was 15 months. The report recalls that failure to comply with the additional sanction constitutes a crime of qualified disobedience, punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years.

In the overall sanctioning activity of 2025, the APCVD recorded 411 definitive conviction decisions, with no possibility of appeal. In 83 situations, judicial enforcement proceedings were initiated due to non-payment of the fine.

Among the exemplary cases cited in the document, a 32-year-old fan was sanctioned with a fine of 1,750 euros and an 18-month ban for racist insults towards a player during the match between Leixões SC B and Ermesinde SC1936, held at the Complexo Desportivo Óscar Marques, a competition organized by the Porto Football Association.

Another fan, aged 39, was sentenced to pay 500 euros and a 12-month ban for insulting and insulting the referee in a match between ADC Balasar and SPG Clube da Cruz, played at the Lino Araújo Sports Complex.

A 28-year-old fan was sanctioned with 1,500 euros and a 24-month ban for setting off two firecrackers in the match between FC Porto and AVS Futebol SAD, at Estádio do Dragão, a competition organized by the Portuguese Professional Football League.

According to data from the National Sports Information Point (PNID), Currently, around 430 people are prohibited from accessing sports venues, approximately 350 by decisions of the APCVD and the rest by determination of judicial courts.
