Sporting loses again to Nantes in the handball Champions League

Sporting lost this Thursday, February 19, in Nantes, 38 to 27, in a game in the 11th round of Group A of the handball Champions League, and was caught by the French in the classification.

Upon their return to the main European club competition, two months later, the two-time Portuguese champions reached half-time losing 21-16, unable to avoid their sixth defeat at this stage, against the ‘executioner’ of the ‘lions’ in the quarter-finals of the previous edition, which they had already won in Lisbon.

With this result, the Lions occupy sixth place, with the same 10 points as Nantes, fifth, both behind Kielce, with 11, Veszprém, with 12, Aalborg, with 19, and the Germans from Fuchse Berlin, who lead, with 20.

The first two placed in each group will qualify directly for the ‘fourths’, while the teams positioned between third and sixth places will compete in a knockout stage to access that knockout phase.
