According to what a source close to the management of the Madrid club revealed to the portal, the intention is to raise “all possible images of the incidents”covering not only those captured by television transmission, but also records from broadcasters and journalists present in the venue.
The objective is to reinforce the investigation already launched by UEFA, which appointed an Ethics and Discipline inspector to investigate possible discriminatory conduct during the game.
The same source indicated that the order has not yet been formalized, but could be in the next few days. Real Madrid considers the cooperation of Benfica and the media essential to prevent any racist behavior from going unconsequential.
Once the information has been gathered, the club intends to send it to the competent authorities and football disciplinary bodies, including UEFA, if necessary.
Real Madrid management has reiterated a policy of “zero tolerance to racism” and argues that the “concrete identification of supporters involved in discriminatory acts is an essential step so that they can be applied exemplary sanctions, whether through bans on entry into sports venueswhether through judicial means”.
