“It is a theater solo written, performed and performed by André Murraças, inspired by his adolescence”. This is how the play My Friend Freddy Kruegerwhich premiered yesterday at Teatro São Luiz, in Lisbon, is presented.André Murraça uses the character of Freddy Krueger, from the films Nightmare on Elm Streetto address topics such as “bullyingfatphobia and homophobia” that marked his life at school in the 1990s.
“The side queer is once again present in this author’s creation. The strange, different aspects of his adolescence are contrasted (or equated) with the ugliness of the character Freddy Krueger – a monster with a burned face who attacks young people at school in their nightmares and kills them out of revenge”, explains the text published in the Livrinhos de Teatro collection nº 194, Artistas Unidos/ Livros Snob.
