Portugal admits participating as an observer in the Peace Council created by Trump

Portugal admits attending meetings of Donald Trump’s Peace Council, which is holding its first meeting this Thursday, February 19, “always as an observer” and when the topic is peace or reconstruction of Gaza, a government source told Lusa.

“With regard to Gaza, Portugal will be able to make itself available, always as an observer, to be present at moments that allow the peace or reconstruction process to be consolidated”indicated, in statements to Lusa, a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MNE) regarding the first meeting of the body created by the North American President, Donald Trump.

Portugal received an invitation from the White House to join the Peace Council, with the head of Portuguese diplomacy admitting to joining that body as long as it limited itself to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
