Iran offers economic benefits to the US in nuclear negotiations

When confirming the meeting, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated, in an interview with the British television network BBC, in Tehran, that “the ball is in the United States’ court” and that, “if they are sincere”, it is possible to reach an agreement.

“If you want an agreement, you need to focus on the nuclear issue,” said Takht-Ravanchi, who ruled out the hypothesis of zero enrichment in Iran and considered the country’s ballistic missile program non-negotiable as it is part of its defensive capacity.

Still, the diplomat reiterated that Tehran is willing to “examine commitments” regarding its nuclear program, “as long as Washington also begins talks about lifting sanctions.”

The Iranian deputy minister considered Tehran’s “proposal to dilute” the more than 400 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60% – very close to the 90% needed for military use – as a sign of Iran’s willingness to reach an agreement.

Saturday, at the Munich Security Conference (CSM), which ends this Sunday, the US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, stated that Donald Trump’s administration favors the diplomatic route to resolve differences with Tehran, although he acknowledged that reaching an agreement is “very difficult”.
