US attack on Greenland could end NATO, warns Danish PM

The Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksenstated this Saturday, February 14, that a United States attack on Greenland to claim its control would simply represent the end of NATO.

“If a NATO country attacks another NATO country, NATO ends. Game over”declared the Prime Minister of Denmark, which has the territory under her jurisdiction.

The crisis triggered by United States President Donald Trump’s desire to take control of Greenland has eased in recent weeks, but the prime minister regrets that tensions have not ceased.

The crisis, unfortunately, is not over. The desire of the President of the United States remains the same. And we all disagree — the Kingdom of Denmark, Europe, and even some of our American friends“, declared Frederiksen at the Munich Security Conference, accompanied by the presidents of Finland and Spain, Alexander Stubb and Pedro Sánchez, as well as US Democratic Senator Chris Coons.

“You can’t put a price on Greenland any more than you can put a price on a part of Spain. It is one of the most basic democratic principles: respecting the sovereignty of States; and the principle of self-determination must be respected. They want to be the people of Greenland, not the Americans,” he said.
