Maersk profit falls 53% in 2025: Impacts and Perspectives

AP Møller-Mærsk, the main industrial group in Denmark, obtained a net profit of 2,915 million dollars (2,467 million euros) in 2025, 53% less than in 2024, the company said in a statement this Thursday, 5th.

In 2025, the Danish group, owner of Maersk Line, one of the world’s leading container shipping companies, had revenues of 53,988 million dollars (45,690 million euros), a drop of 3%.

That year, net operating profit (ebit) was 3,500 million dollars (2,962 million euros), a drop of 46%.

The gross operating result (ebitda) fell 21%, to 9,530 million dollars (8,065 million euros).

In the fourth quarter, the continued pressure of taxes on the fleet contributed to AP Møller-Mærsk recording a net loss of 27 million dollars (23 million euros), when a year earlier it had amounted to 2,110 million (1,786 million euros).

Turnover amounted to 13,331 million dollars (11,282 million euros), down 9%.

In the last quarter of 2025, ebit fell 94% to 118 million dollars (100 million euros) and ebitda was 1,836 million (1,554 million euros), 49% less.

Last year, the result was marked by macroeconomic and geopolitical uncertainty, including problems on the Red Sea route and volatility in trade with the United States, which increased pressure on rates, the company explained.

The Danish group predicts growth of between 2% and 4% for the global container shipping market in 2026.
