Judge Manuel Mota Botelho sentenced to five years in prison for resorting to prostitution of minors

Retired advisor judge Manuel Mota Botelho was sentenced this Thursday, February 5, to five years in prison, with the sentence suspended for the same period, for nine crimes of resorting to prostitution of minors, one of them aggravated.

The retired judge advisor to the Court of Auditors was being tried at the Supreme Court of Justice (STJ), in Lisbon, for 16 crimes involving prostitution of minors, crimes that were committed between 2019 and 2023 in São Miguel, in the Azores.

According to news released by SIC and Público, two of the judge’s six alleged victims were just 15 years old and all received 25 euros for each act.
