Luís Godinho was chosen to referee the derby between FC Porto and Sporting, scheduled for next Monday (20:45), February 9th, at Estádio do Dragão, counting for the 21st round of the I League.
The 40-year-old referee from the Évora Football Association will have Rui Teixeira and Pedro Mota as assistants, with the fourth referee being Hélder Malheiro. In the VAR will be Tiago Martins, assisted by Pedro Felisberto.
Remember that Godinho blowing the whistle and Tiago Martins in the VAR was the formula chosen for last year’s controversial Portuguese Cup final, won by Sporting with a victory over Benfica, after which the Reds complained about a step by Matheus Reis on Belotti that the referee and VAR did not point out.
FC Porto leads the championship with 55 points, four more than Sporting and nine more than Benfica.
In another important game for the first places, Benfica-Alverca on Sunday (20:30), Bruno Costa was the appointed referee.
