Presidential candidate António José Seguro said this Sunday, February 1, that “it is not indifferent” the number of votes obtained and that “it is not enough to win by one”, because the next President of the Republic must have “reinforced electoral legitimacy”, also promising social peace.
“It doesn’t matter how many votes this candidacy has. It’s not enough to win by one. Because the next President of the Republic has to emerge with reinforced electoral legitimacy”, said António José Seguro, at a rally at the Teatro Cine de Gouveia, Guarda district.
On the day of early voting, the candidate supported by the PS argued that “the more votes he has, the more political strength he has to make the parties, the Government and the Parliament do what they should, which is to contribute, within their projects, to solving the problems of the Portuguese”.
During his speech, António José Seguro also said three times that he intends to guarantee social peace in the country, arguing that it is necessary to have in Belém “an experienced President, who is not going to learn on the job” and who “privileges stability, because without social peace and political stability, absolutely nothing can be done”, especially “at a time that is not one of division, which is one of union”.
“Experience, competence, stability, social peace, capacity for dialogue. That’s what I offer. That’s what I ask for trust from the Portuguese”, he stressed, also forging a verbal contract with the audience in which he promised to “work hard over the next five years” asking those present to, in return, “work hard every day of the next week to get as many Portuguese people to vote on February 8th”.
Seguro considered it necessary for everyone to bring friends, family, neighbors or co-workers to vote “for the candidacy that projects hope, that wants to make Portugal a modern country and a fair country, that wants to bring stability, that wants to bring social peace”.
