Incredible reunion! Cat lost for 4 years returns home after being seen on shelter website.

After 4 years of losing her beloved cat named Tinsel, a stroke of luck allowed her to be reunited with her owner, Maggie DeGreenia, whose cousin saw him on a local shelter’s website.

Tinsel went missing in December 2021, leading to weeks of searching, posting to Facebook groups, contacting shelters, and putting up wanted signs.

Despite all her efforts, DeGreenia finally had to accept that her beloved pet was missing.

The 27-year-old Vermonter had lived with Tinsel since 2017, when she adopted him from a shelter in Lunenburg. Four years later, Tinsel was accidentally let out of the DeGreenia house and disappeared.

“We called local shelters for weeks, searching for him by car and on foot,” said DeGreenia, who admitted she eventually gave up and simply hoped her little boy would find a loving new home.

One day, DeGreenia received a text message from her cousin saying she had seen Tinsel with his distinctive mustache on a local shelter’s page.

“He sent me a message saying ‘Hey important, I think I found Tinsel,'” he told SWNS. “I couldn’t believe it when I saw the photo and immediately burst into tears. I called the shelter, Riverside Rescue, as quickly as I could, still in tears as I told them our story.”

Tinsel immediately recognized her owner during the meeting at the shelter, pressing her forehead against Maggie’s in a touching display of affection that she described as “the most incredible feeling.”

According to the shelter, Tinsel was picked up by people who cared for him until December, then surrendered.
