UCLA is ranked No. 1 in D1Baseball’s preseason Top 25 for the first time in its 12-year history. Led by 2025 D1 Baseball Player of the Year Roch Cholowski, the Bruins pitched eight everyday regulars and 10 of 10 top-12 innings, winning the college finals and being ranked No. 48 in the world. They also secured two big-name transfers (right-hander Logan Reddemann and outfielder Will Gasparino) and one of the nation’s top rookies (Angel Cervantes).

The Bruins’ previous preseason ranking was No. 2 in 2021. They were last seeded going into the 2019 NCAA Tournament.

National champion LSU is just behind No. 2 in the rankings, and the Tigers enter the season ranked in the top five for the fourth straight year. LSU was ranked no lower than 16 in any of the 12 preseason D1Baseball Top 25 rankings.

The Tigers lead five SEC teams in the top 10. Texas, the reigning SEC champion, was ranked No. 3 and Mississippi State was ranked No. 4 in the Brian O’Connor era. Arkansas is the No. 7 seed for the Razorbacks, their sixth straight preseason top 10 finish. Auburn is also ranked No. 9, its highest preseason ranking since 2020 (No. 8).

Georgia Tech, under first-year head coach James Ramsey, is ranked fifth, the highest preseason ranking for the Yellow Jackets in their 12-year history. The Jackets last had a preseason ranking (No. 21) in 2022. Last year’s national runner-up, Coastal Carolina, was ranked No. 6 and No. 1. No. 8 Louisville and No. 10 TCU round out the top 10. This marks the highest preseason ranking for the Chanticleers, who are ranked in the top 25 in D1Baseball.

Two fresh-faced, offensively-rich teams are ranked No. 11 (North Carolina) and No. 12 (Oregon State). They are followed by three SEC powers, No. 13 Florida, No. 14 Tennessee and No. 15 Georgia. The 16-20 division includes three ACC teams: No. 16 Florida State, No. 17 NCAA State and No. 19 Clemson. Rounding out the top 20 were 18 Miss Kentucky and 20 Southern Misses.

The final group of five includes two ACC clubs in No. 21 Wake Forest and No. 22 Miami, as well as the No. 1 seed from last year’s No. 23 NCAA tournament. A year ago, Omaha was ranked No. 24 by Arizona State, and Texas A&M is closing in on No. 25.

The SEC leads all conferences with 11 teams ranked in the top 25, followed by the ACC (eight teams), Big 12 and Sun Belt (two each). UCLA is the Big Ten’s only representative. Oregon State remains a Division I independent.

The D1Baseball staff determines the top 25 rankings.
