Vandy was undefeated again, and Ole Miss won at the buzzer

As if working overtime isn’t exciting enough, let’s add a buzzer. Ole Miss pulled away from No. 21 Georgia with a dramatic overtime win in Athens on Wednesday night.

With the game tied at 95 and just 10 seconds left in overtime, AJ Storr’s driving attempt bounced off the backboard and into the hands of Patton Pinkins, who quickly recovered the ball to give the Rebels a 97-95 win over No. 21 Georgia.

Georgia entered the tournament seeking revenge after last season’s loss to Ole Miss, but the final bow was handed to the Rebels.

The entire tournament was fiercely contested with 16 draws. Storr’s game-changing layup with 17 seconds left in regulation forced Georgia to tie the game at 87 in overtime as the Bulldogs couldn’t answer.

In a back-and-forth overtime period, Georgia’s Marcus Millinder made one of two free throws with 10 seconds left to tie the game again at 95.

Aj Storr fell at the other end and Pinkins was down just minutes before he provided the winning shot.

The win was Ole Miss’ first over a ranked opponent this season. The Rebels last played in the 2025 NCAA Tournament against No. 14 Iowa State and their most recent win was at No. 4 Alabama last season.

Ole Miss travels to Starkville, Mississippi on Saturday, Jan. 17, while Georgia looks to continue its winning streak by staying at home before inviting No. 17 Arizona to Athens on Saturday.

What a wild night in college hoops. The Texas Longhorns defeated No. 10 Vanderbilt to hand the SEC’s only undefeated team its first loss.

Coming off a big win in Tuscaloosa, Texas had the right mindset heading into the game against the Commodores.

The Longhorns controlled the game for most of the night, leading 42-37 at halftime, shooting 8-of-15 from 3-point range and committing just five turnovers. Vanderbilt capitalized on some Texas mistakes early in the second quarter, but the Longhorns quickly recovered.

With just over five minutes remaining, Texas extended its lead to double digits and never looked back for an 80-64 victory. Matas Vokietatis led the team with 22 points, Tramon Mark 21 points, Daylin Swain 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists.

Vanderbilt returns home to take on the Florida Gators on Saturday, Jan. 17, before staying at home to host in-state rival Texas A&M.
