Utah defensive end John Henry Daley plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, he announced Tuesday morning on X.

“I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and Ute Nation for their incredible support over the past two seasons,” Daley said in his post. “The experiences I’ve had here will last a lifetime. Who I consider family has grown significantly and I will always cherish those relationships. This rehab has given me time to pray and think about my future.”

Daley, who finished the 2025 season with multiple All-America honors and a semifinal nod for the Chuck Bednarik Award, enters the portal with two years of eligibility remaining in his college career.

The redshirt sophomore led all Utah players with 11.5 sacks to go along with 17.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and 48 total tackles on the season.

The Alpine native suffered a season-ending lower leg injury. Before announcing his decision to enter the transfer portal, Daley turned to X to update his injury status.

“I’ve heard it everywhere,” Daley replied. “I won’t be up for it next season. I’ll be back in 6 months.”

Daley said he expects to be “fully healthy by the spring of 2026.”

Michigan could be a potential destination for Daley as Kyle Whittingham is leaving the state for Ann Arbor.
