Crespi’s basketball team is starting to gain traction just in time for Mission League play to begin next month.
The Celts (11-4) advanced to the semifinals of the toughest division A classic at Damien’s with a 70-67 victory over Northern California power Richmond Salesian on Saturday.
Carter Barnes finished with 16 points and five assists. Jasiah Williams had 15 points. And in a big development for the Celts, 6-foot-10 transfer Rodney Mukendi, who became eligible Friday, had nine points and eight rebounds in 13 minutes as he continued to get playing time and move into the mix.
Crespi will face Phoenix Sunnyslope in the Platinum Division semifinals on Monday at 8 p.m. Sunnyslope beat St. John Bosco in overtime 61-54. Christian Collins scored 26 points for St. John Bosco. Redondo Union will play Crean Lutheran in the other semifinal at 7 p.m.
Crean Lutheran 61, Texas Sandra Day O’Connor 60: Nick Giarrusso had 17 points and 12 rebounds to help Crean Lutheran earn a berth in the Platinum Division semifinals.
Redondo Union 60, Damien 59: The Sea Hawks held on in overtime and will face Crean Lutheran in the Platinum Division semifinals on Monday. Eli Garner gave Damien 22 points. SJ Madison had 24 points and Chris Sanders finished with 13 rebounds for Redondo Union.
Arcadia 52, San Gabriel Academy 47: The Apaches (11-1) picked up their biggest win of the season against a team that handed Redondo Union its only loss and will play Rolling Hills Prep in the Gold Division semifinals. Nick Wallace Jr. and Ajani Balogun each scored 14 points. It’s the second time this season Arcadia has been a team with a 6-foot-11 or taller center.
Preparation for Rolling Hills 61, Arizona Mesa 47: Nick Welch Jr. had 25 points and 14 rebounds to advance Rolling Hills Prep (12-2) to the Gold Division semifinals in Damien.
Nevada Liberty 61, Etiwanda 59: The Eagles (15-1) lost in overtime at Damien. Devin Mitchell scored 18 points for Etiwanda.
Folsom 60, Loyola 54: The Cubs were beaten despite 10 rebounds from Mattai Carter.
Eastvale Roosevelt 65, Utah American Fork 61: Sloane Harris had 26 points for Roosevelt.
Corona Centennial 70, Idaho Owyee 46: Stanford commit Isaiah Rogers scored 21 points for Centennial.
Village Christian 73, San Ramon Valley 60: Rookie Will Conroy scored a career-high 41 points.
Mayfair 55, Palisades 49: Josiah Johnson finished with 27 points for Mayfair.
Campbell Hall 75, Washington Prep 69: Ean Britt finished with 23 points for Campbell Hall.
St. Pius X-St. Matthias 67, De La Salle 64: The Warriors prevailed in double overtime. Kayleb Kearse scored 23 points and Dominic Gallardo 16.

Brentwood 67, Newport Beach Pacifica Christian 65: AJ Okoh had 30 points in the double overtime victory. Ethan Hill added 13 points and 12 rebounds. Brentwood is 15-1.
Sierra Canyon 79, Oregon Barlow 51: The Trailblazers improved to 10-1 in Oregon.
St. Francis 71, Pilibos 49: Luke Paulus had 20 points and Cherif Millogo 17 for the Golden Knights.

San Pedro 70, Palos Verdes 66: The Pirates won their own tournament championship. Tournament MVP Ricky Alonso scored 19 points. San Pedro is 10-3.

Windward 68, Bishop Montgomery 50: Angelina Habis scored 37 points, including eight 3-pointers, for a Windward team that improved after the transfer’s sit-out period ended Friday. Charis Rainey added 21 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Sierra Canyon 72, San Juan Hills 22: Emilia Krstevski finished with 16 points and Payton Montgomery had 12 rebounds for 11-1 Sierra Canyon.
St. Anthony 78, North Torrance 52: Laila Hughes led the St. Anthony (12-2) with 29 points.
Harvard-Westlake 65, Hamilton 25: Freshman Lucia Khamenia had 22 points for the Wolverines.
JSerra 53, Oak Park 48: The Eagles faced No. 1 Orange County before the loss. Karisma Lewis had 19 points.
