Texas Tech’s 19-game unbeaten streak came to an end on Saturday with a win over Kansas State.
After trailing in the third quarter, the Red Raiders led by two in the fourth quarter and Jada Malone’s layup to beat Texas Tech 44-42. The Wildcats responded with a second-chance score and a clutch layup to take control.

Kansas State took its fourth lead on a Jordan Speizer jumper at the 4:50 mark and never trailed again. Tess Hill and Gina Garcia went on a spurt, with Garcia making contact in the final 18 seconds and Hill knocking down two free throws to cut the lead to five. Taryn Sides made two more free throws to tie the game with 4 seconds left.
Texas Tech stayed within striking distance behind Bailey Maupin and Jada Malone, who scored 18 and 15, respectively, but the Red Raiders suffered late possessions, turnovers and missed an offensive rebound in the final minute.
