The Syracuse Orange women’s basketball team looks to make a splash in conference play when they open 2026 against the Florida State Seminoles on Thursday, January 1st (1/1/2026) at 6:00 PM ET. The game is a streaming exclusive, so here’s what you need to know to watch it for free tonight.

Syracuse’s smooth sailing ran into a storm on Sunday when they hosted the Duke Blue Devils and lost 51-71, ending a six-game winning streak that included a victory over ACC foe SMU. Now, Syracuse will try to get back into the win column as the conference portion of the season continues into the new year.
Despite a good start, the Orange couldn’t keep pace as Duke pulled away, especially in the second quarter and beyond.
Dominique Darius led Syracuse with 18 points and added three rebounds, while Laila Phelia chipped in 11. Sophie Burrows also had some big plays as she tied her career high with five steals and contributed defensively.
The team struggled to find a consistent offense, shooting below its usual efficiency and the rotation didn’t help. Although Syracuse fought hard and kept the game competitive at times, they couldn’t overcome Duke’s even scoring.
It was only the Orange’s second loss of the season, but a reminder that conference play presents tougher challenges.
FSU has gotten off to a rough start compared to the Orange, entering Thursday’s game just 5-9 overall and 0-2 in the ACC. However, they are winning 81-49 over South Carolina State.
