An upstate New York man was arrested after he accidentally shot himself on Christmas Day, police said.
WHAM reports Keith Crenshaw, 55, of Buffalo, was hospitalized at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on Thursday, December 25, around 4:40 p.m. He had a gunshot wound to the leg, according to the Rochester Police Department.
RPD said Crenshaw claimed someone else shot him in the Goodman Street area, but detectives later determined he shot himself at an apartment in Rochester. Crenshaw was in illegal possession of a handgun, police said.
Crenshaw was taken into custody Friday after a SWAT team executed a search warrant at the apartment, WHAM reports. He was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
According to WROCCrenshaw is currently in the Monroe County Jail. Bail was set at $7,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
According to WHAM, he is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
