Syracuse, NY – Ahmad Miller committed to the Syracuse football program on Wednesday, according to a report from Pete Nakos of On3.com.
Miller rushed for 1,035 yards on 163 carries last season, averaging 6.3 yards per carry. He also rushed for five touchdowns. He caught five passes for 26 yards.
Listed at 6-foot, 207 pounds, Miller was named first-team All-SWAC and has one year of eligibility remaining.
Miller is not currently rated as a transfer by On3.com.
He earned Pro Football Focus’ second-best grade among players who played offensive snaps for Jackson State last season, behind only former Syracuse quarterback Jacobian Morgan.
Miller is the fourth player Syracuse has acquired this offseason. He is the second running back and the first commit from the FCS level.
Miller was outstanding at the lower level of college football, forcing 52 fumbles and compiling 750 of his rushing yards after contact, according to PFF.
Syracuse’s leader in both categories last year was Yasin Willis, who forced 18 missed tackles and racked up 406 yards after contact.
Miller’s biggest weakness, according to his PFF grade, is his ability in the passing game, where he has rarely been used. Jackson State finished 9-3.
Syracuse quarterback prospects next year are expected to include LSU transfer Ju’Juan Johnson, Miller, Tylik Hill, Malachi Coleman and Davion Kerr.
